The Nokia N78 is a more evolved mobile phone that harkens back to its roots in terms of its chocolate bar shape, being reminiscent of early model Nokia N-series phones. This is a super-thin phone with a glossy front and curvy silver border.

The N78’s large display screen comes with a light sensor that automatically adjusts the amount of light it emits depending on how much ambient light is in the vicinity.

All keys like the send, menu, and end call and cancel buttons click when you hit them, making them simple to use. Unlike most phones that work with a standard four-way navigation pad, the Nokia N78 uses a pad that works much like an iPhone’s scroll wheel. This is great for speedily scanning through your contact or song lists.

A very unique design feature on the N78 is its typing keypad, which is constructed with four horizontal rows. This is great to type on. The N78 runs on the S60 3rd edition, but the interface has been improved to look more fancy. When you change applications there are cool transitional visual effects.

The Nokia N78 will keep you connected on the internet via HSDPA (3.5G) and Wi-Fi, and you can download third-party applications like the Opera Mini browser to experience a desktop perspective on your mobile phone.

Getting around is simple with the N78's A-GPS navigation system, in combination with Nokia Maps. You get step-by-step information, but if you want voice guidance you will have to pay extra. Use Google Maps on the N78 and you can get a free aerial view of where you are. Very cool indeed.

The N78 has a 3.2-megapixel camera with a LED photo light instead of a flash. Music can be uploaded simply by drag-and-drop PC software technology. You get a microSD card slot for adding extra memory, and a built-in 3.5mm headphone jack makes it easy to use your own headphones. Stereo speakers have very good sound, but don’t go selling your home entertainment system just yet.

The Nokia N78’s battery life lasts for a couple of days when using it quite heavily, which is great if you think about all the features you’re using. This is a mobile phone with extensive functionality.
