HTC Touch Pro 2 Review

The HTC Touch Pro 2 is an undeniably professional mobile phone, almost a miniature computer.

The HTC Touch Pro 2 is an undeniably professional mobile phone, almost a miniature computer. With excellent conference call capabilities, a wealth of connectivity options and stack of other features, this HTC mobile will please the most discerning business user.

Design wise, the HTC Touch Pro 2 manages to sound intimidating but not look it. It is a solid machine, with a 3.6 inch touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard underneath. The keyboard slides out and the screen slides up. The screen can then be tilted as little or as much as you need to minimise glare. The Touch Pro 2 is curved at the edges, giving the handset a sleek look. A shiny black face and sleek metal casing adds to the professional image, with a large two toned speaker on the back suiting the phone very well.

This speaker has been included in the Touch Pro 2 for conference calls. HTC have worked hard on this feature, and the result is powerful and beautifully simple to use. It is incredibly easy to select people for the call from either an active call or even an email. The Touch Pro 2 is so clever in this capacity that if you put the phone face down, the speakerphone automatically activates. It will automatically deactivate when you pick the phone back up again, and if you want to mute the call, there is a handy button on the back in the middle of the speaker with which you can do so. The call quality in general is very high, whether you use the speaker or not.

Multimedia functionality with the HTC Touch Pro 2 is good if not exceptional. The 3.6 inch display is crystal clear, making it great for watching videos and viewing photos. The screen can ever auto adjust its brightness for the surrounding light. The Touch Pro also has TV out capabilities so you can watch clips or even display presentations on a TV or computer screen. A 3 megapixel camera sits on the back of the handset and takes pretty good pictures.

The HTC Touch Pro 2 is a powerhouse of connectivity and programs, boasting A-GPS, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, Bluetooth and USB connectivity as well as an Adobe PDF reader, VPN access and Microsoft Mobile office suite. The TouchFLO 3D user interface employed by HTC for the Touch Pro 2 is superb. Visually stunning and more than up to the challenge of offering so many applications and connections, there are hardly any lags and it is easy to switch and change between programs providing you close applications once you are done with them. The Touch Pro 2 does come with a stylus for controlling the touchscreen, but most of the time your finger will do the job just fine.
