The Nokia 7100 is a slider phone set to appeal to a younger audience who are design savvy. Featuring a range of hip colours, from jelly red, a cool shade of blue and even a suave black model, the Nokia 7100 is 98mm tall when closed, 125mm tall when open and 15mm thick. Its edges are curved, making it comfortable to hold, both when talking on the phone and texting.

The number pad, unveiled when the slide is up, bears usefully larger buttons that are perfect for texting. Each button is slightly raised in its centre so it's easy to find and hit. The Nokia 7100's sliding mechanism has a smooth movement, but is built solid enough to give reliable use for a long time to come.

The familiar Nokia user interface is once again present on the Nokia 7100, and provides easy and reliable management as always. Scrolling through menus is easy and response lag is not a problem. The display quality is decent, with 240 x 320 pixel resolution.

As the 7100 has been designed for a younger market, multimedia functions are well and truly looked after. Nokia have included Java technology so you can play fast moving games and load modern applications quickly and without hassle. There is a music player that supports a range of files and an FM radio too for keeping up to date on the go (or simply listening to some new tracks if you get bored of your own). Also included is a 1.3 megapixel camera, which won't revolutionise digital art but can take decent shots in good light. With 3G connectivity as well as Bluetooth, the Nokia 7100 will keep you connected in more ways than one.
