Do you own a Porsche, but are too scared to take it out of the garage for fear of paint scratches? Well fear no longer. You can now show the world you own the ultimate luxury sports car without exposing it to the elements thanks to Porsche’s new mobile phone that is only for its car owners.

The Porsche P’9522 BLACK is the latest mobile phone to be designed and manufactured by the German automotive company’s offshoot, Porsche Design. This ultimate style accessory was unveiled to the world this week at its global launch in Singapore.

Made by Sagem Wireless, the Porsche mobile phone was made available only to the 1,600 drivers of Porsche cars in Singapore. The P’9522 BLACK is made of an intimidating combination of black mineral glass and anodised aluminium, and boasts James Bond-esque features including fingerprint authentication.

The new mobile phone, if you can get it, is retailing for 2,280 Singapore dollars or $1,723 Australian dollars. This is around three times the cost of a Blackberry or an iPhone in Singapore.  Porsche Design distributors however are confident that the new Porsche mobile phone will sell well.

"The Porsche Design brand is doing very well in Asia, Russia and the Middle East, and the usage of our products, especially mobiles, is high in Asia," said the business director for Brand Lab, Samy Redjeb. Brand Lab is the sole distributor of Porsche Design mobiles in several Asian countries, including Singapore and China.

“In Asia”, he said, “people like to have something unique - they like to show their status by putting the phone on the table, which says 'look, I'm rich'."

The Porsche P’9522 BLACK should be making its way to Australian shores soon. In the meantime, you could always start saving for the next Porsche accessory; Redjeb said that there is a Porsche Design luxury yacht currently under development.
