It’s called the ‘Mini’, but the Nokia N97 Mini is not small on features. The Mini is a great looking touchscreen phone that is easy to use, very small in size and perfect for social networking.

This is a slimmed-down smartphone, with a QWERTY keyboard that slides open from the side, and whose touchscreen sits at a tilted angle. You have control of which angle you’d like to view the display, but each perspective looks as good as the next. All you need to do for action is tap or slide your finger across the screen to open up the phone’s applications, features and widgets.

The N97 Mini’s home screen is fully capable for customisation, which means you can create shortcuts to your family and friends’ phone numbers, or add ‘necessary’ widgets that relate to your lifestyle. For example, there’s a weather widget for people who spend a lot of time working outdoors.

This smartphone is Nokia’s first to have Ovi Lifecasting. It’s a new widget allowing people to update their present geographical location and Facebook status straight from the home screen. Ovi Lifecasting also makes it possible to use updates to plan out your days.

A good example of this is if a mate tells you about a new film that they want to check out. Before locking in your plans for the night, you can do some on-the-spot research to help you decide whether or not to commit. On the phone’s handset you search the internet via 3G or WiFi and watch the film’s trailer, plus find times it’s playing (if you liked what you saw), then reply to your friend with all the information. The internet connection is quite quick so searching through the web, streaming videos, downloading content, updating your statuses and emailing contents can all be done without any lag time.

The N97 Mini’s 5-Megapixel camera is an awesome option for taking photos or recording your own videos. This camera’s lens is made from Carl Zeiss optics, plus there’s a Dual LED flash for pictures taken in the twilight. All of your photos can be instantly sent over to your social networking web pages, or to your friends and family via email attachments. There’s also a geo-tagging facility to help you remember where and when you took the fateful shot.

Find that elusive pub or fish and chip shop by utilising Nokia Maps and Assisted GPS. You get around seven full hours of battery life, and the N97 can hold microSD memory cards of up to 16GB. This super-small mobile still has a big enough heart to make sure you stay connected and entertained anywhere you go.
