The Samsung Wave is a slim smartphone with high-end features. It’s available on plans priced as low as $29 per month, making it an absolute bargain. It even looks the part of a higher-end phone with its metallic exterior, scratch-resistant screen and sturdy body.

The Samsung Wave is typical of a Samsung smartphone: it features a large, brilliant Super AMOLED screen. Its capacitive touchscreen responds well to all the common finger gestures.

The Samsung Wave uses the new Bada operating system by Samsung, which is reminiscent in some ways of the Google Android system. It allows users to access six customisable home screens, a notification panel to view missed calls and new messages and apps can be viewed in the menu, with the option to order them according to how often you access them.

The Samsung Wave, while packed with features, is a low-end phone dedicated to a younger audience. Users will find a 5-megapixel camera on the back with an LED flash, touch-to-focus controls, Geo-tagging and image stabilisation. The photos appear rich and crisp on the Super AMOLED screen. The easy-to-use media player runs effortlessly, with the ability to switch between tracks even when the phone is locked. These features are handled by the phone’s 1GHz processor, which gives the Samsung Wave its speedy performance.

Social Hub is the place where teens can access different social networking pages all from the one app. Teens can access social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, MSN, Yahoo, Gmail and Gtalk. While many of the features of each social networking site can make Social Hub a bit of an unnecessary feature, it’s useful if you only want to do things like update your status or change your profile picture across all platforms.

Hundreds of apps can be accessed through the Samsung Wave, however we have not seen any which really appear that exciting yet.

If you don’t want to fork out $50 per month for a quality smartphone that performs well, the Samsung Wave is an excellent choice. There aren’t too many low-end smartphones which perform this well and look this good.
